Professional Experience (Attorney):

Civil litigation with an emphasis on contractual and intellectual property matters.

Entertainment transaction practice with an emphasis on motion picture production related issues. Lawyer for production companies, actors, directors, writers and producers. Production counsel responsible for all aspects of the negotiation, drafting and review of contracts and documents required to produce, distribute, deliver and exploit the films. Document and element preparation for the delivery of motion pictures to distributors and foreign sales agents. Primary liaison between producer and unions, agents, managers, financiers and distributors. As production and legal counsel, additional responsibilities included copyright registration, screenplay clearance, product placement clearance, product placement acquisition, title registration and clearance, provision of advice related to domain names, media law issues, defamation issues, invasion of privacy issues, right of publicity issues, union signatory and security issues (bond, liens and residuals), as well as all other matters associated with the production of audio-visual content, and other original content.

Experience (Independent Producer):

Developed, packaged, financed (third party), produced and secured domestic and foreign distribution for thirteen independent films. Select the material (screenplay, book, or magazine article), secure (negotiate, draft and enter into option and purchase agreement) the material, and work with the writer to prepare the screenplay for submission to actors, agents and financiers. In conjunction with the casting director, select the cast, including lead actors and submit offers to their management and agents, negotiate draft and review all talent and crew deals, engage all department heads, negotiate location agreements, register the production company with the unions, prepare and review the budget and production schedule, coordinate production and creative issues with the director, file and complete production incentive applications and documentation, raise other production financing necessary to complete the picture, oversee post production and take responsibility for the delivery of film.
